Getting to know Alana

Q: What can your clients expect when they sit in your chair?

A: I’ve been a hairstylist for 7 years, so I feel confident in saying my clients can expect a wonderful experience, beginning to end. I strive to listen to what my clients are really saying, and will never start a service unless I’m 100% sure we are on the same page. Consultation is THE key to a long term, happy client! Honesty is important to me and I make sure the client has a clear idea of what can and cannot be accomplished during the visit. I love all aspects of my job! I loved being in hair school and grasped everything easily. It is truly a career where you can be limitless in your creativity and have fun while you’re working.

Q: What is your favourite thing to do as a hairstylist?

A: I love all aspects of my career, but deep down (okay, maybe not that deep) I’m a colorist! I love the alchemy of mixing , changing and the challenges of making someone’s vision a reality.

Q: How did you feel about coming to a more holistic salon that focuses on complete wellness of the clients and offers natural & organic products and services?

A: I was interested, but in all honesty I was pretty neutral. I had never heard of holistic wellness and didn’t know that much about Essential Oils or Organic Hairstyling Products. I felt if it worked then great; and if it didn’t I’d use something else. Now that I’ve experienced it all, my eyes have been completely opened to new and exciting world. I’ve noticed a huge change in my own health and lifestyle choices which I can relay to my clients. I love being able to offer healthy services and believe me, there is not a lot of that in this industry. To give my clients services and products that I know are improving their lives and doing no harm is the greatest joy for me.

Q: When did you know you wanted to be a hairstylist?

A: I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist as young as elementary school. Both of my aunts were hairstylists and my grandparents owned their own salon for a few years. I grew up around it and loved what I saw.

Q: What do you love most about your chosen profession?

A: I love all the different walks of life and the stories I get to hear on a regular basis. It is incredibly special how my clients have come to trust me and invite me into their lives, if only for an hour. As a natural born, social butterfly, this work is everything that satisfies me and more! I get such a thrill when I turn the chair around and reveal my clients new look. I can literally change people’s lives and how they view themselves by a simple haircut, color or foils. How special is that?!

Q: What else is important to you?

A: Family and friends are extremely important to me! I love camping and nature, 4 wheeling, but also love everything that comes with this industry.... forever learning and growing, hair care products, make-up, nail polish ... you know, the “girly things”.
